12 Second Ford Thunderbird

Updated 6/27/05

Welcome to my website.
This site is dedicated to my 1988 Ford Thunderbird. My goal was to make a pretty quick street sleeper to suprise some people on the road. But the need for horsepower increased like it always does, and before I knew it the car was running low 12s. Ive done some more mods for the 2005 season, and Im goin for 11s this year. Check out my progress..

Motivation

I built this car because it seems really popular among the car scene to make cars look fast that are really slow. I want a car to look slow but be fast as hell. I like imports and domestics both, but I cant stand riced out cars. My car can never be fast enough, but I will be somewhat satisfied with a solid 11 second street car.

Modifications

This car started out as a humble 3.8 V6 car, but that motor was replaced with a breathed over fuel injected 5.0L engine with Windsor Jr heads, Explorer intake, full exhaust, 24lb injectors/Pro M Maf, and other small mods. The motor is backed my a Lentech VB AOD with a TCI 3200 stall and shifted by a B&M Megashifter. The rear end is a TurboCoupe 8.8 with converted drum brakes and 3.73 gears with a rebuilt Trac-Lock unit. Rims are Weld Draglites with Nitto 275/50/15 drag radials. Car has gone 13.3 @105mph on the motor. Add a 125shot of Nitrous Works spray and things get interesting. Car has gone a best of 12.11 @ 114mph last year before the trans rebuild...I'll post new times soon.

Whats new...

6/27/05

I recently rebuilt the AOD trans with a Lentech Stage II valvebody, a TCI lockup 3200 stall converter, Lentech hardened input shaft, and Red Alto Clutches. I also installed a B&M Megashifter to hammer through the gears, this included a full floor shift conversion. Next mods include a custom gauge cluster and paint.
